Comfort Kitchen, located in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston at 611 Columbia Rd., has earned a spot on the New York Times's 2023 Restaurant List, which names the 50 places that the outlet considers the best in America.

The outlet's list was compiled by sending a dozen reporters, editors, and critics to hundreds of eateries throughout the country in order to find their favorites, according to the NY Times report.

The Dorchester restaurant, owned by Nepal native Biplaw Rai and Ghana native Kwasi Kwaa, serves African diaspora food and seeks to celebrate ingredients and flavors from around the globe, according to the eatery's website.

In their writeup of the eatery, NY Times reviewers said that Rai and Kwaa "want to illustrate just how connected food traditions are, through ingredients that have traveled across continents, either through forced migration or trade routes."

This combining of ingredients and cuisines is seen in the restaurant's menu offerings. One such example is the duck dusted with jerk seasoning and served with Jamaican rice and peas and pikliz, a Haitian pickled vegetable relish.

Another meal served by the restaurant is spicy roasted eggplant also joined by Morrocan-styled couscous and lemon yogurt tahini.

"Despite all this zigzagging through countries and flavors, each dish still manages to feel coherent and captivating — like a story unfolding in several parts," wrote the NY Times reviewers.

The eatery, which features an outdoor patio and a full bar, opens as a cafe during the day until 3 p.m. and opens for dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
